For drivers who have extra cash flow and delight in being pampered, Paragon Motorcars is a perfect pit stop. The upscale “exotic car boutique,” specializing in pre-owned motor cars, is strategically located near Centennial Airport off East Arapahoe Road and South Lima Street.
The show room alone is worth the trip. It’s decorated with paintings of famous race car drivers such as Fangio Unavita and Michael Schumacher. The showroom is trendy, decorated with modern furniture and primary colored murals in the tradition of painter Mondrian. Before leaving, don’t forget to visit the bathroom; it’s an elaborate amenity as far as car dealerships go. In between the lobby and the showroom, there’s a large flat screen TV just in case you want to stop and watch the Grand Prix.
“We’ll have events for people that want to watch anything that’s happening around the world live on the SPEED channel,” said Matthew Kryjak, Paragon Motorcars president. “If there’s a Formula One race, in Australia at say one o’clock or 5 o’clock in the morning, we’ll have an event here. People can come have some coffee or a couple of cocktails if they want, and watch the race with their fellow racing enthusiasts.”
Kryjak will be offering a line of specialty items such as various MOMO accessories, sophisticated Brembo brakes, high quality Cobra seats and Beta Tools, “The tools of Formula One.” Auto addicts will also be happy to know that when they purchase a vehicle they can have four hours of racing time on the track with a retired race car driver.
Kryjak is very passionate about cars and believes the car buying experience is an emotional one.
“We want to make the buying experience fun and relaxing to the level of a resort experience,” he said. “That’s what we’re trying to do.”
Kryjak, with 25 years of experience in the resort business, has served at some of the world’s finest resorts such as five diamond Mauna Lani, in Hawaii and he managed the Rock Resort property in the Caribbean. He aims to please and will probably insist the guest enjoys a glass of wine or be obliged to sit in a Ferrari before leaving. There’s a bar in the showroom and this accommodating salesman treats everyone with this type hospitality.
“You just never know who’s going to buy a car, young or old,” he said.
Otton Suarez, executive vice president, has 31 years of experience in the resort industry. With Kryjak, he previously managed the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tuscan, Ariz.
“Otton and I have been around some of the top 10 resorts in the world and we’ve worked at three of them, boasted Kryjak.
Kryjak’s experienced staff includes Mark Mertz, whose background encompasses the maintenance of finer cars.
“He has a fantastic ability to work on cars,” remarked Kryjak. “A lot of this operation has been based on his ability and skills, so we’re very fortunate to have him. He’s very talented; he worked at a Rolls-Royce dealership for 10 years at the Royal Carriage Works in Denver; he’s worked on Ferraris and Maseratis. He was written up in Road & Track magazine as the best Maserati mechanic in the country.”
The maintenance shop offers fine detail work in the “operating area,” where a car enthusiast can choose to wash his or her own car, sopping it lovingly with a diaper.
“Do one car, do it right,” said Kryjak about the process. “Everything we do, we want to do to perfection. So when you pull away you don’t say, ‘Oh, it’s still dirty on my right dash.'”
After you have your baby detailed, you may not want to take it out of the garage. However, this auto devotee is adamant that cars are not some piece of art to be locked away, but a thing to enjoy.
Kryjak and his wife, Cindy—who had a lot to do with the magnificent decorating at the showroom—are avid members of racing clubs. He teases that she’s a more aggressive driver than he is, and she teases back that she married him because he was the only man who shared her interest in cars. It was because of that passion that he entered this business.
Paragon Motorcars hasn’t set a date yet for their grand opening, but Kryjak is hopeful it will be the first weekend in March, when Formula One season begins.
