The Lindbergh Foundation will honor Dr. Bertrand Piccard.

On Saturday evening, May 21, the Lindbergh Foundation will host their 28th annual Lindbergh Award ceremony. The event will honor Dr. Bertrand Piccard, the first person to circumnavigate the Earth in a hot-air balloon and developer of a very exciting project entitled Solar Impulse. Also honored will be Yolanda Kakabadse, executive president of the Foundation for the Future of Latin America and past president of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

Erik Lindbergh, vice chairman of the Lindbergh Foundation, will serve as the master of ceremonies at this event being held at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. Attendees will enjoy a reception, beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner in the Great Hall, at 7 p.m., and a program at which each of the foundation’s awardees will give a presentation. The evening will conclude with a dessert buffet served in the rotunda where a special exhibit, prepared by the Minnesota Historical Society exclusively for this event, will be displayed.

On Friday evening, May 20, there will be a “Legends of the Sky” hangar party at the Anoka County Airport in Blaine, Minn., at the Golden Wings Museum. Burt Rutan, the winner of the $10 million Ansari X PRIZE, will be the featured speaker. John and Martha King of King Schools, Inc., will be the masters of ceremonies, and Erik Lindbergh will be the host for the evening. Dr. Bertrand Piccard will be the honored guest.

Attendees will hear several of the best orators on the planet tell great aviation stories, and enjoy a gourmet buffet, against the backdrop of an outstanding collection of vintage aircraft from the private collection of Greg Herrick. Tour guides will share the fascinating histories of these planes.

The reception and buffet will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 8 p.m.

The Lindbergh Foundation is offering a special combination ticket for $150/person for both events (the combination represents an $80 tax-deductible contribution per person). Proceeds from the events benefit the Lindbergh Foundation. The goal of the foundation is to “improve the long-term quality of all life by balancing technological advancements and the preservation of our environment.”

Seating is limited. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit [http://www.lindberghfoundation.org].
