The 2005 Gathering of Eagles, held on July 28, raised $729,000 to support the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles program. The benefit honored Young Eagles, as well as Young Eagles pilots and volunteers.
Volunteers were also honored the evening before, when several awards were presented. Barbara Goodwin, Kalamazoo, Mich., EAA Chapter 221, received the Young Eagles Horizon Award. Kirk Foecking, Galena, Ill., Chapter 75, was honored as Outstanding Chapter Coordinator. Carol Thompson-MacCabe, Rolling Meadows, Ill., Chapter 101, was honored as Outstanding Field Representative. Ralph and Elaine Phillips, Lake City, Fla., Chapter 977, were honored as the year’s Outstanding Ground Support Volunteers.
