Hold on to your wigs, and snap your fingers to the latest entry at the Country Dinner Playhouse. The baby boomers are in for a treat when they visit “Beehive,” a sassy musical of ’60s fare, costumes and wigs. The five female singers imitate and add comedy to such artists as The Chiffons, The Shirelles, The Supremes, Lesley Gore, Brenda Lee, and Petula Clark. Boogaloo down memory lane with such favorites as “My Boyfriend’s Back,” “One Fine Day,” “Where the Boys Are,” and “Downtown.”
There’s a great segment on Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin—both energetically done by Lisa Payton. This production will get your toes tapping and your hands clapping. The voices blend well, and Mary Louise Lee, one of the original Beehive Girls, has great talent as a singer and a narrator.
Evening performances are Wednesday through Sunday and matinees are also available.
