Wings, Wheels & Rotors will include military aircraft, civilian and military helicopters, cars, entertainment and much more. This view from last year’s expo includes an Air National Guard KC-135 from March AFB and a B-25, surrounded by automobiles.

Between 12,000 and 15,000 visitors are expected for the open house. The expo will include military and civilian airplanes, helicopters and a large custom car show; more than 60 trophies will be awarded. Returning this year will be several half-hour demonstrations of radio-controlled miniature warbird planes (with wing spans of 10 feet and larger).

It’s expected that more than 150 vendors will exhibit everything from crafts to military related items. A special area will be designated for many Orange and Los Angeles County police and fire agencies, to exhibit their specialty vehicles and equipment, including SWAT teams and Urban Search and Rescue Units. Flights in civilian helicopters will be offered for a small fee, and free Young Eagles flights will be given to interested youth.

A special Kids Corner will offer free hands-on activities for youngsters, from coloring contests to wooden plane construction. This year, a pinewood derby is being offered; youngsters will be helped in constructing and then racing small pinewood cars.

Sponsors include the Professional Helicopter Pilots Association and the California National Guard. Admission and parking for the day-long event is free. Adults will need a photo identification card when entering the base.
