An American Airlines DC-3 brought by, L to R, Flagship Detroit Foundation Pres George Dennis and Capts Cal Moreland, Ron Tallent and Stephen Jacobson won the Morgan Adams Concours d’Elegance Peoples Choice, and Brett Derosier Memorial-Best of Show award.
The Morgan Adams Concours d’Elegance seeks to honor children afflicted with cancer. Money raised is used to benefit pediatric cancer research. The Morgan Adams Foundation and The Children’s Hospital Foundation cohosted the 2006 event, held August 26.
A spectacular aerobatic performance was made by Lee Lauderback, flying a P-51D owned by Joe Thibodeau, and Howard Pardue, flying his Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat. Flyover announcers were Bob Stovall and Angie West. Gary Shapiro, KUSA 9 News anchorperson, was master of ceremonies for the evening.
A gorgeous array of automobiles and aircraft were displayed on the TAC Air ramp at Centennial Airport. Live and silent auctions were held, providing high bidders the chance for a ride in aircraft including a North American SNJ-7B, Boeing Stearman, Vans Super Six Rocket, Lockheed T-33A, Younkin/Dake Mullicoupe, North American T6-G, Globe GC-1B Swift, Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3 biplane, North American SNJ-3, Cirrus SR22-GTS, P-51D Mustang, de Havilland Beaver and MiG-17. Rides in automobiles up for bid included the Ferrari 360 Spyder, Porches 911 Turbo S, Ford GT40, Mercedes-Benz 300SL, Cord Model 810 Westchester, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing Coupe and Cadillac Model 62 convertible.

- A prominent Pebble Beach restorer in California restored this supercharged 1935 Auburn Boat Tail 851 Speedster.
- A de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver bush plane owned by Pat Wiesner gets a close inspection on the TAC Air ramp.
- This 1972 McLaren M20 Can-Am championship racer is the factory team car driven by Denny Hulme and now owned by Harry Matthews.
- Chris Jacobson has a long connection with classic Beechcraft Staggerwing aircraft, such as this one that made a surprise visit at the Concours d’Elegance.
