McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ), the premier business airport serving the San Diego-Orange County area, hosted the Porsche Business Aircraft and Jet Preview September 20.
After a morning rain shower, the skies cleared to bright sun and scattered clouds. It became a perfect day for sellers and buyers alike to check out the newest aircraft and the 2008 Porsches at Jet Source’s large hangar and ramp.
One of the most innovative aircraft present was Diamond Aircraft’s DA42 Twin Star. A pair of T.A.E. Centurion 2.0 Turbo diesel engines, capable of running on JetA1 fuel, powers the Twin Star. This gives the aircraft a maximum range of 1,129 nautical miles at a speed of 151 knots.
Among the companies offering fractional ownership programs were Avantair, the exclusive provider of shares in the luxurious and sleek Piaggio Avanti P. 180 turboprop, Jet-Alliance with the Eclipse Aviation 500 LX business aircraft, and Air Shares Elite with the Cirrus SR-22 single-engine aircraft. Representatives from iFly were there to discuss the exclusive aero club’s membership program.
Other featured aircraft were the Flight Design USA CT light sport aircraft, Columbia 350 single-engine piston aircraft, Pilatus PC-12 single-engine turboprop and the high performance Mooney Acclaim. Hawker Beechcraft displayed the Hawker 850XP and Beechcraft Premier 1.
Scheyden Precision Eyewear displayed their line of custom eyewear and luggage for pilots. Other exhibitors included Residential Cruise Line, Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, aviation attorneys Luce Forward and City National Bank.
Hoehn Motors featured the entire line of 2008 Porsche vehicles. Preview guests had the opportunity to test drive the Boxster S, Cayman, Cayenne S and 911 Cabriolet.
