New School Forms for LSA Power Plants

Lockwood Supply, the leading U.S. distributor for the Rotax series of engines, has formed a new school aimed at the light sport and sport aviation community. Aero Technical Institute is now operating at the Lockwood Aviation Supply facilities at Sebring Regional Airport (SEF).

The mission of the Aero Technical Institute is to help make sport aviation and light-sport aircraft flying safer and more affordable for a much larger portion of the U.S. population. The school will begin to accomplish this by efficiently sharing the wealth of knowledge possessed by Lockwood Supply technicians. The experience and expertise of the Lockwood staff spans nearly 18 years of work with Rotax engines, and light and ultra-light aircraft.

The vision of the founders is to put information about the operation and maintenance of some of the more popular light aircraft engines into the hands of owners, and their maintainers.

“We want to see more people enjoying the thrill of aviation,” explained Phil Lockwood, founder of Lockwood Aviation Supply. “When people are using power plants they can trust, they’re more enthusiastic about sharing aviation experiences with friends and loved ones.”

Early courses will focus on Rotax engines, but the school will expand to other maintenance and inspection courses for light-sport aircraft. The schools will be held at the Lockwood facilities at Sebring Airport.
