S-TEC Promotes Former Pilot for President Ronald Reagan

Former Marine One pilot Chris Becker is now vice president of flight operations for S-TEC.

Meggitt/S-TEC has promoted Chris Becker to vice president of flight operations. Becker was the Marine One helicopter pilot for President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George Bush from 1985-1988.

In his new position, Becker is responsible for leading S-TEC’s flight test team, including pilots, engineers and technicians. He will also supervise all certification flight-testing, STC design and development, customer aircraft service and factory installations. He was most recently director of flight-testing.

Becker has 28 years of flight and aviation management experience, including 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was honored as Test Pilot of the Year and earned three Meritorious Service awards. Becker has multiple certifications including ATP, helicopter, experimental test pilot and flight instructor. He has more than 5,000 hours total flight time and more than 7,000 landings.

Prior to joining S-TEC in 2004, he was director of Bell Textron’s H-1 helicopter program; before that he was Rockwell Collins’ Navy and Marine aircraft avionics program manager.

Becker is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Naval Test Pilot School. He earned a master’s degree in education from Troy State University.
